ALASKA’S LARGEST TREE FARM & NURSERY
SUPPLYING THE LANDSCAPE CONTRACTOR AS WELL AS THE HOMEOWNER

CONTINUALLY GROWING SINCE 1985

There was no book or handy website around back in 1985 on how to start a tree farm in Alaska. For over three-and-a-half decades we have pioneered practices that stand unique in the industry. Sample growing before we commit to production assures you winter survival and a product that will perform well and be with you for many years. Our grow-on trees are purchased from some of America’s finest growers in areas that see the coldest temperature in the lower 48.

We grow in a rich glacial sandy loam, left here in the Knik valley when the Knik Glacier receded more than 10,000 years ago. Our trees are dug by mechanical spade, burlaped, and wire basket contained. Over the last few years we have been converting over to drip irrigation for our rowed out trees, helping to produce a better product in less time.

Tree maintenance starts early, removing crotched trunks, lower branches and competing tops. We keep our evergreens single leader by pruning seasonally. We irrigate with mineral rich glacial ground water, and fertilize every spring. Our trees are sprayed for pests annually, especially evergreens. Our farm sits at 53’ elevation, 1 mile from the base of 6,400’ Pioneer peak. Descending cold air can bring our temperatures down to minus 40’s, while strong Pacific winds can shoot it back to 40 above, with down pours of winter rain. This puts our material through the brutal process of thaw refreeze. In the grow season, valley winds help with strong leader and fibrous root development. These conditions, and the care we give our trees and shrubs is our way of knowing our customers are getting healthy, solid products. With hundreds of fine references from Homer to Fairbanks. We take pride in our growing and it shows.

INSTALLATION
SERVICES

We do offer installation services for retail customers that would like us to plant their trees. For those who was to do it themselves we offer planting packages that make for a professional job.

QUALITY NURSERY
STOCK

We grow trees that are native to Alaska. We import other trees and grow them on, acclimating them to our conditions. What we don’t have growing here is shipped up in the spring. Our shrubs are potted in an excellent media and maintained by overhead sprinklers. Many of our perennials are greenhouse grown and are available in early June.

KNOWLEDGEABLE GROWERS

As one of the only tree farms in Alaska we don’t want to show you photos of trees and shrubs other than our own. These are photos of our farm and our products in different seasons. We’ve come a long way since 1985 and consider ourselves experts in our growing practices. We’re happy to help you with planting locations, soil conditions, and any installation or maintenance questions you may have.
